One night, when I was living in Knoxville, me and a couple friends were driving past an abandoned insane asylum in knoxville near UT called "Lakeshore." Apparently it was shut down and abandoned after malpractice claims and now its seldom used. There is a big hotel like structure which is the main building and then a silo looking structure right in the middle. Next to this is a little, square brick building with a light on hanging from string in the middle of it and one chair.

We were all a little freaked out just because it was all foggy and that place is creepy as shit, so my friend decides it would be a good idea to tell us a little bit about it. To my knowledge, this is all true. He tells us that one of his friend's dads is a psychiatrist and he handles some of the patients who were once in this asylum. One day his dad had to retrieve some files from Lakeshore. He gets there and a couple of guards accompany him to the small brick room with the one light. In the room is a big metal door with a padlock on it and a guard sitting in front of it. The police officer and security guard are both looking a little nervous at this point and they inform him that they'd never been inside it. They unlock the door and apparently there was a long staircase that went deep underground and there was no light (artificial or natural) down the staircase at all, so they all had to carry flashlights.

When they get to the bottom its just a long hallway with doors on either side. He tries a couple doors and finally comes across one that has a file cabinet and he begins looking for the files. In the room though was apparently a long metal table with chains all over it and there were scalpels and other medical devices strewn on the ground. He couldn't find the file he needed so he tried a couple more doors. Now, this part I suspect isn't true but it still freaks the shit out of me. Apparently his dad opened up a door and then immediately shut it. Inside the room he opened he said there was a dark, congealed substance all over the walls. Needless to say we were all freaked the fuck out. This place really exists. If you live in the
Knoxville area or are visiting the campus, go check it out at night. Apparently a ghost also haunts silo there too. I guess someone committed suicide by jumping off of it and every once in a while you can see his ghost committing suicide again
